blocking for april's 11 second club entry

hey there,

looks like I am getting lazy wit the posts, but then there hasnt been much to post about... I placed around 25th last entry... which made my heart glad... of course my goal is to do better...

this months dialogue is an intresting choice... initially i really didnt like it but more i listened to it... started loving it... sadly thought i spend half the month on an idea (well acutally 1 week i was voting and waiting fr result and 1 week spent on the idea really)  but found it weird/bad so had to scrap it up and restart... got my blockign in last friday... but as usual lazy me... :)

march 2013 11 second club entry

hey there,
Yes I missed posting last week... maybe I am just that lazy... or most likely cause I didnt do anything on week 12 of my final class... it was an amazing journey but now i am left with a slight emptiness...  well i think i'll put off commenting on my laziness or emptyness and get stright to the point...
To keep myself busy i decided to take part in the 11second club of march... it was kinda late but i kinda got a last minute idea that i thought would be interesting... here is the submission i did...




took me about a week's work but i m happy the way it turned out... (not perfect but happy :) ) ... It was rather fun to get back to norman after a long time but i love his simplicity...  over the coming weeks i hope to take part in april's dialog too (thought right now i am not happy with the ideas popping in my head) also want to do smthing with the new rigs that are out (namly stan, stella and sloan) (especially sloan)... lets see what happens

in the mean time I am applying for a job across the board (i mean EVERYWHERE) some are kind eneough to reply most are not (i can understand they have toooooon's of mail's to go through :) ) hope i get landed a gig real soon...

demoreel_V02 (class 06 week 11)

hey there,

There was a famous quote that keeps coming to my mind recently.. "All good things must, eventually come to an end" ...

and so ends my 18 months training of AM with this final submission... i still got 1 more week with my mentor... but no more grading... no more critique... no more sunday deadline (unless the place i might get into has sunday deadlines :) )

have a lot of personal things going on... and this isnt the place to put in but bascially it just means I have to hunt fr a job like i never hunted before...time to put all the knowledge to use...

but then does it mean this blog has come to an end??? i hope not... this blog i started with the sole purpose of seeing my progress... i can look back 2 yrs ago and see what i was doing... heck i can look back as far as 2007 when i truly started my journey as an animator... i hope to keep doing new shots... i have soo many unfinished projects (including the super secret LOA project that i started during my LOA but never got it past week 2... )

lets see where life will take me... (being too philosophical for past few weeks but hey i am under alot of stress.. so :P )

as usual at end of term i do a small thank u animation to my mentor... just to let them know how much i appreciate their hard work... (teaching this block head is really really hard work :) ) i do a small 2d animation ...

Demoreel TIME!!! (class 06 Week 10 )

Well as mentioned in previous posts... its almost time for the end... ( and no end of the world didnt happen as expected in december most likely cause i took a leave of absence from animation mentor and so instead of finishing it up by december 21st... i am gonna finish my course in about  a weeks time...

well here is a 1st pass of my demo reel...

polishing Close to final (Class06 Week 09)

hey there,

So this loooooong journey is closeeeeee to completion... its already end of week 9 so that means theres just 3 weeks left...
funny thing is I am scared and excited at the same time... I am scared cause now I have to go out into the world hunting for a job (which from the looks of things are getting harder to find :D ) and excited cause now that I look back i have learned sooooo much and have grown soooooo much (both in the capacity as an animator and also physically got fat :P ) Am more confident on my ability and thanks to Tata elxsi I know I can survive in an professional envirnoment (i had struggled quite a bit when i was in keyframes in cochin one of the main reasons i joined AM :) )

well too much reminiscing... i'll keep this short... here is the progress of all the shots... have to start rendering them (*sigh* one never had to do that few years back :'( oh industry how u have grown )




next week will by 1st pass of my reel... lets see how it turns out...

polishing AnimJam among other things (Class 06 Week 08)

hey there,

this has been an intresting week... as i mentioned last week i started working on a new shot using spiderbot unfortunatly i havnt completed blocking it (not much time with me working on 6 different shtos at same time all of it on polishing stage...)

also over the weekend thanks to a friend of mine i got a test in prana studio... it was an interesting test had lot of fun over the weekend doing it (sadly it meant i had to work on sunday but... oh well... ) finally got to use malcom... and its a good rig... and i mean really goood rig... its a really really good rig (once u get over the fear of over 500 control curves on it :D) i didnt get a chance to push the rig to its limit (since it was a test after all ) hope i can try out malcom and bonnie rig at some time in future... (more things on my animation to do list :'(   )

sadly i cant post the test up on net...so i guess it stays in my hard disk for now...


speaking of hard disks... another awesome thing happend this weekend... my good old harddisk crashed (luckily day after submitting my work to the HR ) i did lose a great deal of date but luckily none of the important stuff.. it was a good thing that i back my work up every day (or atleast quite often) onto my external drive... thought i lost my secondary drive (the 1TB one which was secondary to the 500GB one ) it ws still weird that it wouldnt boot up even thought the hard disk containg windows was connected properly so i had to reinstall windows (thats when i found out really) so now in the process of reestablishing all the customization i made to my windows... though it did give the oppurtunity to do a clean start and just install the stuff i need... but still lot of work... and lot of work left to do...

p.s being tech savy rules... thanks to singing into chrome bar i never lost any of my bookmarks... so as soon as i installed chrome and signed in again i got back my old preferences... YAAY!!!

polishing and more polishing (class 06 week 07)

hey there,

this week was very different... since Jason (my mentor :D ) was unavailable this week so I had Dana Boadway fill in for him...
it was quite a fresh eye on my shots...




apart from this I kinda started working on a new shot... it kinda started more as just an expriment (same thing can be said with Ice-Scream shot ) using a spiderbot rig is really challenging... hope to get the blocking done so its kinda good for upload maybe in a weeks time r so :)

weight Lift refining and misc polishing (class 06 Week06)

hey there,

late post as usual... and making use of the awesome time travelling device blogger has invented to put this post in the past...


this week has been really intresting (especially the weekend) went to aero show india 2013 on saturday with my cousin... and shouted myself till i lost my voice to cheer the awesome aerobatics skills displayed there...

one thing i noted... there was an awesome composition built into the show with use of smoke trails... no matter how fast the jets were moving... with clever use of smoke trails and such the audience never missed a trick... and always knew where to pay attention to... (i suppose since it costs quite alot of money to organize it, it would have been waste if audience missed the tricks)

well back to the reason i make these posts.. my progress
this week i finally got my animation out of step and  into spline... i noticed that unconciously i have changed my method of working... it has become more strightahead then i intended it to be (i blame it on auto tangent... but then those are only excuses) so will make sure that my next shot (most likely after the course ends) will be more ok the old pose to pose method that i had come to know and love...

Polishing Class (Class 06 Week 04)

hey there,

a little behind schedule this week... I was able to work only 3 days this week... i was out this week frm thursday to sunday so i was able to get very little work done... on the bright side I finally got to take the car out for a loooong drive (about 800Km )... it was kind of an emergency

work wise that means that I am a week behind schedule for my new weight shot... hope to get it started this week...

Polishing class (Class06 Week 03)

hey there,

well not much to mention this week except maybe some major changes in my icecream shot (well somewhat major :D ) reworked the blur frames and stuff... apart from that i had a FUN weekend... A peer buddy of mine decided to move to good old Bendakaluru (or better known an banglore/bengalore ) so there was a nice meet up... spent time talking abt everything and nothing (most of it animation related...) made me realize something... I love hanging around other animators... I am most alive during those times... well hopefully that would mean if and when i get a job i would be in Valhalla (well wanted to say nirvana but i think valhalla feels more close to what I am feeling)

polishing class (Class 06 Week 02)

hey there,

its end week 2 and things are going on smashingly... jason is an awesome mentor... and learing quite alot from him...

now onto the submissions this week... the dialogue has got some minor changes... but i think they are for the better... i think my eyes are pretty much gone for this shot... and i fear i might be entering into the "too much noodle" Zone... i think i should find a better to get some fresh eyes on it...

I am haveing fun with the second shot...  the icecream one... that is the shot where i am learning quite a bit... made some changes... more changes on the way...



the final thing is a quick 2D exploratory sketch for a weight lift...

no clue what the title is (Class 06 Week 01 )

hey there,
I know I KNOW!!! the title is weird... but i have no clue what title to give to this post... :D

so we are all set with the new year with my final AM class (and yes i realized i missed last weeks post explanation... [if anyone even cares] will follow later in the post)...

I was supposed to have finished my course by december itself but i took an LOA inbetween term 4 and 5 to join up with Tata elxsi as freelance animator... (oh boy those days were fun... maybe someday i'll put up some of the stuff i worked on :) )

so this term my new mentor is Jason Tylor... Had his 1st qna and it was awesome... cant wait for more!!!

as u already noticed the IceScream shot is still not past blocking... it might be splined but its still blocking none the less :( ... The reason is that last week instead of working on my animation i was working as freelance... the shot was fun to do... loved the characters voice.... somehow reminded me of megatron from the transformers... had fun animating it so hey the week was still fun animating...

apart from animation over the new year I enjoyed a nice trek at shivagange (photos those who cant see this add me up in faceybook :D )
